Architect, client and contractor: why working together changes everything

In a construction or renovation project, three people hold the pencil: the client, who brings the vision and the budget; the architect or designer, who turns it into plans; and the contractor, who turns those plans into a building. When these three work separately, problems show up late, where they cost the most. When they work together from the start, the project becomes simpler, more accurate and more beautiful.

Involve the contractor early

Too often, the contractor receives finished plans and then has to announce that some details cost more than expected or are hard to build. By involving the contractor during design, material choices, building methods and budget can be validated before everything is locked in. The architect keeps their vision; the contractor helps make it buildable.

The client at the centre of decisions

It's your home. Good collaboration means regular meetings, clear explanations and options presented with their benefits, costs and impact on the schedule. You make informed decisions instead of discovering the consequences on the job site.

What it changes in practice

  • Fewer unexpected extras: technical issues are solved on paper, not in the middle of construction.

  • A more reliable budget: estimates are based on choices everyone has approved.

  • Better details: air sealing, insulation and the connections between materials are designed together, which directly affects how long the building lasts.

  • A realistic schedule: everyone knows their responsibilities and deadlines.

Our approach

At Konifère Construction, we rely on transparency and communication throughout the project. Whether you already have an architect or are just starting to think about your project, we like to sit at the same table, early on, to build a shared vision.
